Asaduddin Owaisi Demands Transparency in Telangana Electoral Roll Revision

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi submitted a representation to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer in Hyderabad, seeking greater transparency, voter assistance, and procedural clarity during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The Special Intensive Revision is scheduled to commence in the state on June 25, 2026, with the house-to-house enumeration process running through July 24, 2026.
Speaking to the media, Owaisi stated that a large-scale pre-survey had already been conducted, mapping lakhs of voters. He urged that the data collected during this exercise be shared with recognised Booth Level Agents (BLAs) so they can assist voters in filling out enumeration forms alongside Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Owaisi argued that sharing this pre-survey data with BLAs would significantly reduce the burden on both voters and BLOs during the month-long house-to-house enumeration. He questioned the necessity of requiring already-mapped voters to manually fill in details that the Election Commission already possesses.
To ensure better accessibility, the AIMIM president requested that voter enumeration forms be made available in English and Urdu, in addition to Telugu.
The party also called for the establishment of a clearly defined Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address discrepancies that may arise during the voter verification process. These discrepancies include age-related errors, name mismatches, and issues regarding family linkage.
Furthermore, Owaisi sought a wider acceptance of government-issued identity and address documents for verification purposes. He also requested clarity on the procedures to be followed when a voter's name is missing from the latest electoral roll.
Owaisi emphasized that the revision exercise must be transparent, inclusive, and voter-friendly, stating that genuine voters should not face unnecessary hurdles to be included in the electoral roll.
