Attapur Police Arrest Six For Rs 21 Lakh Shaadi Mubarak Scheme Fraud

The Attapur police on Saturday arrested six persons, including a special revenue inspector working at the Bandlaguda Tahsildar office, for allegedly claiming benefits under the state's Shaadi Mubarak scheme using fake documents. The arrests followed an investigation into fraudulent applications that resulted in the illegal sanctioning of Rs 21 lakh.
According to the police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Dharavath Ashok Kiran, aged 32, who served as a special revenue inspector at the Bandlaguda Tahsil; Mohammed Jaffar, aged 26; Mohammed Sarfaraz, aged 26; Syed Musharaf Uddin, aged 23; Mohd Akbar, aged 20; and Mohd Etemaad, aged 25, who worked as an Aadhaar operator.
The investigation revealed a coordinated effort to siphon off government welfare funds. Police stated that Etemaad, leveraging his role as an Aadhaar operator, colluded with Jaffar, Sarfaraz, Musharaf, and Akbar to prepare the fraudulent Shaadi Mubarak scheme applications. The group utilized morphed photographs of a man and a woman, along with other documents that were obtained through fraudulent means.
Once the false applications were compiled, they were submitted at the Bandlaguda Tahsildar office through the special revenue inspector, Ashok Kiran. Instead of verifying the claims, Ashok Kiran allegedly bypassed standard protocols. Police stated that he forwarded the applications to the sanctioning authorities and recommended the release of funds to fake beneficiaries without conducting any field inspections to verify the details of the applicants.
Through these multiple fraudulent applications, the gang successfully managed to get Rs 21 lakh sanctioned by the government. After the funds were released, the money was divided among the six primary suspects, their accomplices, and other individuals who had provided their bank accounts and personal documents to help facilitate the fraud.
ACP Rajendranagar T Srinivas confirmed the law enforcement action, stating that all six suspects involved in the operation have been arrested and remanded to custody.
