The Telangana Fire Services Department cancelled the Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the commercial building housing the popular Niloufer Cafe in Banjara Hills. The enforcement action, which took place on June 12, 2026, followed a surprise inspection that revealed multiple serious fire safety violations.

The inspection at the building, located on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills, was part of a larger statewide safety drive. The Telangana Fire Services Department initiated this drive in response to recent fire accidents in the region that caused loss of lives and property.

During the surprise check, Fire Services personnel identified several irregularities and breaches of the building's fire safety licence conditions. Among the primary violations was the discovery that a restaurant was operating above the fourth floor of the building without the necessary permits.

In addition to the unauthorized upper-floor operations, officials noted multiple other irregularities in the fire licence conditions. Inspectors highlighted that blocked passages and other safety violations would severely endanger the lives of both customers and staff members if a fire were to break out.

Because of these serious safety breaches, the building housing the cafe no longer possesses a valid Fire NOC. The Telangana Fire Services Department has directed the building management to address and rectify all identified deficiencies. The management must bring the building into full compliance with the prescribed fire safety norms to resolve the safety risks.
