Committee members from the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking conducted a surprise inspection at the Oshiwara depot in Mumbai over the weekend, uncovering multiple leaks and defects in several wet lease buses.

The surprise visit was carried out by a three-member team consisting of BEST panel members Ramakant Gupta, Ajay Singh, and Santosh Medhekar. The inspection was prompted by recent incidents where leakages were exposed in BEST buses during pre-monsoon showers.

To investigate the condition of the fleet, the panel members visited the Oshiwara depot, where some of the buses are parked. During their weekend review, the team examined a batch of the vehicles.

To their surprise, the panel members discovered further leakages and defects in a few of the buses. The inspection exposed safety and maintenance defects within the city's wet lease bus fleet.
