A surprise weekend inspection by Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) committee members at the Oshiwara depot in Mumbai has exposed water leakages and maintenance defects in the city's wet-leased public transport buses.

The surprise visit was conducted by a team of three BEST panel members, identified as Ramakant Gupta, Ajay Singh, and Santosh Medhekar. The inspection was initiated after leakages were previously exposed in BEST buses during recent pre-monsoon showers.

During their visit to the Oshiwara depot, where some of the buses are parked, the committee members reviewed a batch from 43 received buses. To their surprise, they discovered more leakages and safety or quality defects in a few of the wet-lease buses.

The findings have exposed maintenance issues and quality defects in the wet-leased vehicles, which are part of the city's public transport system.
