Delhi to Launch Passport-Like Booklets for Students to Explore 23 Heritage Sites
On June 16, 2026, the Delhi government announced a new educational initiative to introduce passport-like booklets for school students, aiming to make learning about the city's rich heritage an engaging and interactive experience. The program is specifically designed for students studying in Classes IV to VI, encouraging them to step outside the classroom and explore 23 historic monuments across New Delhi.
The program has been developed through a joint collaboration between the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation and the city's education department. Officials plan to officially roll out the initiative after August 15, with the program scheduled to run for a duration of six months.
The booklet itself is designed to look and feel like a real travel passport. The very first page of the booklet will feature the student's photograph along with their basic details. The remaining pages of the passport will be dedicated to the 23 selected heritage sites scattered across the capital.
Each monument's page will contain a brief historical description of the landmark, along with designated spaces where children can collect stamps during their physical visits to the sites. This structure is intended to transform heritage learning into an active, game-like pursuit.
According to representatives, the core idea behind the project is to make heritage exploration genuinely exciting for school children. Rather than viewing historic monuments only within the pages of school textbooks, students will be actively encouraged to visit them in person. Through these visits, they can learn about local history and gain a deeper understanding of the city's cultural landscape firsthand.
To further motivate participation, the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation has introduced an incentive system. Students who successfully complete visits to all 23 monuments and collect every stamp in their booklets will be eligible to receive special awards and formal recognition from the tourism department.
