The doctor, identified as Dr. Sejal Pawar, issued the apology on social media after a video clip of her remarks went viral. She admitted she was "very naive" and took full responsibility for her words.

The controversy began when a video clip from the stand-up show surfaced online. In the clip, Dr. Pawar was allegedly heard discussing how doctors joke about a man's private parts while performing post-mortem examinations. According to Dr. Pawar, the clip is three months old.

The remarks sparked widespread criticism on social media, with users questioning whether such comments were disrespectful toward deceased individuals and compromised the dignity associated with cadavers used for medical learning.

In her apology, Dr. Pawar stated that she understood why people were upset and accepted responsibility for her words. She clarified that she did not intend to justify what was said or explain it away.

"Looking back, I can see how my words could be interpreted differently from what I meant," Dr. Pawar wrote on social media.

She added that she never intentionally thought she would say something like that, noting that there was no intention to disrespect anyone. She explained that she was "very naive" and that it was her first time participating in a stand-up show.
