DVAC Registers FIR Against Former Tamil Nadu Minister KN Nehru in Cash-for-Jobs Case

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former Tamil Nadu municipal administration and water supply minister KN Nehru. The case is linked to a cash-for-jobs complaint.
The development came to light in Chennai before the Madras High Court on Friday. The first division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, was hearing a contempt petition filed against the DVAC.
The contempt petition was initiated by AIADMK Rajya Sabha member IS Inbadurai. Inbadurai filed the case against DVAC officials for failing to comply with the High Court's previous directions to register the FIR.
During the hearing, Advocate General Vijay Narayan informed the bench that the DVAC had registered the FIR. He stated that the action was taken after obtaining his legal opinion on the matter.
The Advocate General further noted that the High Court had originally directed the DVAC on February 20, 2026, to register the FIR without any delay.
Alongside the contempt petition, the division bench is also hearing a review petition that has been filed by Nehru in his personal capacity.
The registration of the FIR initiates formal legal action and a corruption investigation against the former state minister in connection with the cash-for-jobs scam.
