FIR Filed Against Gurugram Resident Himanshu Jangra and Comedian Pranit More

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against stand-up comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra of Gurugram, and several other individuals. The legal action has been initiated by the authorities following a massive public outcry and controversy surrounding a social media post about a "Rs 370 Biryani" date.
The controversy began after Himanshu Jangra, an audience member from Gurugram, shared his personal story during one of Pranit More's stand-up comedy shows. Jangra revealed that he had spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani during a date with a woman, and consequently expected returns in the form of physical intimacy from her.
During the show, Jangra went on to share specific details of how he kissed and touched the woman. He also admitted that he convinced her to do so, even though she did not want to participate.
The video of the interaction quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism. As a result of the online backlash, Jangra faced severe consequences, including being fired from his job.
In addition to Jangra, internet users heavily targeted the stand-up comedian Pranit More. The online community blamed More for his reaction to the story, pointing out that he laughed at Jangra's statements instead of stopping the audience member or teaching him the right way to behave.
Following the online uproar, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell stepped in to register an FIR against More, Jangra, and others for posting objectionable content on social media platforms.
The Office of the Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, serves as the nodal office for all cyber-related matters in the State of Maharashtra. Official representatives stated that the Maharashtra Cyber Cell continues to actively monitor online platforms and social media ecosystems. The agency aims to identify and take appropriate legal action against any content and activities that may violate applicable laws and adversely affect public order, dignity, and societal interests.
