Fourteen US and Indian jazz musicians to perform at Hyderabad's RNR Auditorium

Fourteen jazz musicians from India and the United States are scheduled to perform a one-night-only big-band concert at the RNR Auditorium in Hyderabad on June 24, 2026. The collaborative performance, titled "Swing City Jazz," is set to bring together a full-scale ensemble of international and local artists for a major musical event in the city.
The upcoming concert was conceived and curated by Timothy Marthand, a concert pianist and the founder of the ArtHome Foundation. The performance aims to showcase a unique musical collaboration, bringing three prominent American artists to the stage alongside 11 of India's finest jazz players.
The 14 musicians will perform together in a traditional, full-scale big-band formation. The instrumentation for the evening's performance will feature a diverse lineup of instruments, including saxophones, trumpets, trombones, bass, grand piano, electric guitar, and drums.
Dr. Jared Sims, an acclaimed saxophonist who was named Boston’s 2025 Jazz Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards, will lead the ensemble. Sims has a distinguished career, having released more than 20 albums as a leader. He has also performed across five continents, appearing at major global music festivals such as Newport, Montreal, and North Sea.
Joining Sims from the United States are trumpeter Doug Olsen and trombonist Reggie Watkins. Olsen has shared stages with legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin and has performed at the prestigious Jazz at Lincoln Center. Watkins is the former musical director for the Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau Band and has been featured as a performer on Grammy-nominated recordings.
The Indian contingent of the big band is anchored by Ryan Sadri, who is widely recognised as the country’s most prominent jazz saxophonist. Sadri and the other 10 Indian musicians will collaborate directly with the American players.
Tickets for the June 24 event are currently available for the public to purchase online through the BookMyShow platform.
