A team from the Haryana Police has extradited 29-year-old gangster Vainkat Garg from Tbilisi, Georgia, to Delhi to face charges for allegedly orchestrating the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Harbilash Hajjumajra in Ambala. Garg, who originally fled India from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, was brought back to Delhi on Thursday following a coordinated effort by the CBI, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Haryana Police.

Garg, who is originally from Chandana Colony in the Narayangarh area of Ambala, Haryana, is an ally of UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu. According to the Haryana Police, Garg fled India on December 10, 2024, traveling first to the United Arab Emirates and subsequently to Georgia on January 26, 2025.

While in Georgia, Garg allegedly established contact with Sangwan and expanded his criminal operations, recruiting and directing shooters around the Delhi-NCR area. To secure his stay in Georgia, Garg utilized proof of residence in the UAE, in accordance with local laws.

The investigation into Garg's involvement intensified after the murder of BSP leader Harbilash Hajjumajra, who was shot dead inside his car in Ambala on January 24, 2025. Within three days of the killing, the Haryana Police arrested five alleged shooters: Sagar, Rajan, Mangu, Gagan, and Shivam. The statements of these five shooters confirmed Garg's role in orchestrating the murder, verifying clues police had previously gathered from social media posts.

Before escaping the country, Garg had been released on bail in October 2024 after being arrested in connection with 23 cases registered against him in Chandigarh and Haryana. His criminal record dates back to 2016.

Currently, Garg is allegedly involved in at least 34 cases, 11 of which are linked to crimes perpetrated from foreign soil. Authorities state he managed a 53-member network based in the NCR, with members facing charges under the Arms Act, extortion, and murder.
