The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a 12-day special monsoon sanitation drive across Hyderabad to clear legacy waste, debris, and silt. Running until June 25, 2026, the campaign is designed to cover all 150 wards of the city in five distinct phases to address sanitation challenges ahead of the heavy rains.

The special sanitation drive focuses on the comprehensive removal of legacy waste accumulated across different parts of the city. This includes municipal solid waste (MSW), construction and demolition (C&D) debris, and green waste. Additionally, sanitation teams are clearing residual waste generated from engineering and urban biodiversity works, along with heavy silt deposits caused by recent rains.

According to an official statement from the municipal corporation, the clearance operations are being actively taken up along major roadsides, nalas, lake margins, footpaths, parks, and other public locations across the GHMC limits.

To ensure systematic coverage across the vast municipal area, the 150 wards have been divided into five phases, with 30 wards scheduled for cleanup in each phase. The daily sanitation operations are scheduled to take place between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

The phased schedule has been structured as follows: Phase 1 was scheduled from June 14 to June 16, while Phase 2 is set to run from June 17 to June 18. Phase 3 will take place from June 19 to June 20, followed by Phase 4 from June 22 to June 23. The final phase, Phase 5, will run from June 24 to June 25 to conclude the drive.

The GHMC is also actively encouraging public participation to help identify areas requiring urgent attention. Citizens can alert the municipal corporation about garbage accumulation points through the Cure1 app, or by contacting the GHMC Call Centre at 040-21111111. Furthermore, residents can send updates via WhatsApp to 8125966586, or reach out to the authorities on social media at @GHMCOnline.
