A Hyderabad traffic constable was allegedly assaulted and verbally abused by two Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials in Banjara Hills on Friday, June 12, 2026. The incident occurred after the officer stopped their vehicle for driving on the wrong side of the road.

According to preliminary information, Traffic Constable Srisailam was on duty when he spotted a car travelling in the wrong direction. He stopped the vehicle, which was carrying two occupants.

The passengers in the car were identified as a GHMC Assistant Engineer (AE) and an Assistant Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) assistant.

An argument broke out between the parties after Srisailam questioned the officials for violating the traffic rules. The confrontation escalated, and the constable alleged that the two officials verbally abused him and physically attacked him during the altercation.

Following the incident, Srisailam lodged a complaint with the local authorities. Based on the constable's complaint, the Banjara Hills police have initiated an inquiry into the matter. Officers are currently gathering details from those involved to establish the sequence of events.
