Haunted 3D Sequel Starring Mimoh Chakraborty Released To Poor Reviews

The Hindi horror sequel Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past, starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Chetna Pande, released in theatres on June 12, 2026, to a poor reception from critics and viewers. The film, which is set around a secluded mansion in the locality of Maniktal, failed to revive the franchise's former appeal, earning a low rating of 2.0 out of 5 stars due to its reliance on outdated formulas and its failure to deliver effective horror.
Written by Mahesh Bhatt, Suhrita Das, and Shubham Dhiman, the 2-hour-and-18-minute film attempts to blend supernatural horror with romance and tragedy. The story centers on Dev Dutt, played by Chakraborty, a troubled man who retreats to a secluded mountain mansion overlooking Maniktala Lake. His search for peace quickly dissolves as he becomes entangled in a web of supernatural events linked to the property's dark past and his lost love, Sunheri, portrayed by Pande.
Critics pointed out that the screenplay heavily relies on familiar and overused horror tropes, such as creaking doors, shadowy figures, and loud jump scares, which fail to build genuine tension. The film's sluggish pacing further slowed down the unfolding mystery, making the key revelations arrive too late to have any significant impact.
The emotional core of the movie, centering on the love story between Dev and Sunheri, was also criticized for its lack of depth. Additionally, the film struggled with a tonal imbalance, awkwardly shifting between romance, horror, and mystery. The climax was particularly poorly received, reducing a supernatural showdown to a routine physical fight that drew unintentional laughter from the audience.
In terms of production, the scenic mountain setting and isolated mansion successfully created a gothic horror atmosphere. However, inconsistent visual effects, dated CGI, and a background score that occasionally turned unintentionally funny during ghostly appearances broke the film's immersion.
While Chakraborty delivered a sincere performance and Pande brought vulnerability to her role, the supporting cast—including Sunil Shakya, Mannveer Choudharry, Gaurav Bajpai, Hemant Pandey, Shruti Prakash, and Praneet Bhatt—were largely reduced to plot devices.
