The ICMR National Institute of Epidemiology (ICMR-NIE) in Chennai announced the launch of a new data-driven analytics platform on June 13, 2026, designed to support epidemic intelligence and strengthen public health outbreak response. Named ADARV, which stands for Advanced Data Analytics for Public Health Action and Research Venture, the first-of-its-kind platform aims to enable swift and efficient action during health crises.

The initiative brings together medical research and advanced technology. Developed in collaboration with the Centre of Data for Public Good (CDPG) and the Isaac Centre for Public Health (ICPH) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, ADARV combines epidemiological expertise with modern data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.

According to an official press release, the platform is designed to allow users to analyze outbreak data rapidly. This capability enables public health officials and researchers to act on findings immediately, without depending on external software or specialized statisticians.

In addition to real-time analysis, ADARV serves as a public health data warehouse for India. Researchers and institutions can upload their datasets to the platform and share them openly with the broader research community. This structured repository is intended to shift the culture around health data from isolated silos to active sharing, building a growing repository of outbreak intelligence.

Several key officials and scientists participated in the launch event. Notable attendees included Manoj V. Murhekar, Scientist G and Director of ICMR-NIE; Inder Gopal, Research Professor and Chair of CDPG at IISc; and Prabhdeep Kaur, Professor and Chair of ICPH at IISc.

ADARV is a free-to-use service, and access is available upon request. Interested parties can request access by emailing [email protected] or visiting the official website at adarv.in.
