iPhone Found in Bhoganahalli PG Bathroom Vent, Neighbour Questioned

A private firm employee discovered an iPhone hidden inside her bathroom air vent at a co-living paying guest (PG) accommodation in Bhoganahalli, near Bellandur, leading to the questioning of her neighbour by the police. The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 14.
The resident, who has been identified under the pseudonym Roopa, had been living at the Bhoganahalli co-living facility for the past two months. According to her statement to the police, she was in the bathroom at around 4:30 p.m. when she noticed a white iPhone positioned inside the air vent.
Suspecting that she was being secretly recorded, Roopa immediately left the bathroom. She reported the discovery to the PG accommodation's caretaker a few minutes later, at 4:39 p.m.
Upon being alerted, the caretaker went to the room adjacent to Roopa's room and knocked on the door. After a brief delay, the male occupant of the room came out. When initially confronted, the neighbour denied any wrongdoing.
However, during subsequent questioning, the neighbour admitted to Roopa and the caretaker that he had placed his white iPhone on the bathroom vent.
The suspect was then taken to the Bellandur police station for further investigation. Officers at the station examined the suspect's mobile phone but did not find any video recordings of the complainant.
According to a senior police officer, there is a possibility that the neighbour deleted the video before the phone was examined, or that Roopa spotted the device before any recording could be completed.
To determine if any footage was recorded and subsequently removed, the Bellandur police have sent the mobile phone to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for data retrieval. The incident has highlighted growing privacy and safety concerns within shared co-living accommodations.
