Karnataka Lokayukta BS Patil on Friday visited several areas in Bengaluru, including RT Nagar, Byatarayanapura, and Anandanagar, to address mounting public complaints over unscientific garbage disposal and local flooding. During the inspections, Patil directed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials and other authorities to resolve the waste management issues on a priority basis.

The Lokayukta’s visits were prompted by innumerable complaints from residents regarding garbage being unscientifically dumped across five city corporations in Bengaluru. In response to the widespread complaints, the Lokayukta office has formed five specialized teams to study the garbage crisis in detail across these five corporations.

During the Friday field visits, officials identified six major "black spots" of garbage accumulation in and around the neighborhoods of RT Nagar, Byatarayanapura, and Anandanagar.

Residents of Vishveshwarayanagar also approached the Lokayukta during the visit to raise urgent concerns regarding local infrastructure. The residents complained that during rainfall, the local storm water drain regularly overflows, causing drain water to flood into their houses.

Following these interactions, Lokayukta Patil directed the GBA and other concerned civic officials to solve the drainage and garbage issues quickly. The officials have also been instructed to submit a formal report regarding the progress and resolution of these complaints.
