Mahindra University Partners With France's GEC For Sustainable Start-Ups

HYDERABAD — Mahindra University (MU) and France's Groupe des Écoles Centrale (GEC) announced the launch of the MU × GEC Innovation Challenge on 16 June 2026. The collaborative initiative, established under the India–France Year of Innovation 2026, was launched in Hyderabad to support early-stage, sustainable start-ups.
The joint challenge is designed to strengthen entrepreneurial collaboration between India and France. It will provide a dedicated platform for promising start-ups to address opportunities in sustainable development and energy transition, while simultaneously gaining exposure to international innovation ecosystems.
As part of the partnership, the institutions will facilitate mentor, faculty, and incubation team exchanges. The initiative also features student and start-up mobility programmes, co-hosted hackathons, bootcamps, accelerators, ideation challenges, and an innovation showcase.
Mahindra University Chancellor Anand Mahindra highlighted the role of academic institutions in fostering such initiatives. He stated that universities must create environments where curiosity is encouraged, research is valued, and innovation serves a larger purpose.
The MU × GEC Innovation Challenge has formally invited early-stage start-ups from both India and France to develop solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.
Participants in the challenge will benefit from a structured programme. This includes expert mentorship, engagement with innovation leaders, immersion opportunities at partner institutions, and pathways for market exploration in the counterpart country.
