On 14 June 2026, a local court in Nampally, Hyderabad, returned a private complaint filed against AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, citing jurisdictional limitations. The IV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Nampally directed the petitioner to approach the appropriate forum that could address her complaint.

The private complaint was filed by a woman who accused the Congress party of failing to initiate action against Congress leader K Shiva Kumar Reddy. Reddy is the former president of the party’s Narayanpet district unit. The petitioner alleged that Reddy had sexually harassed and abused her.

The complaint listed seven respondents in total. Among these respondents, four are legislators and Meenakshi Natarajan is a former Member of Parliament. Because the proposed accused are elected representatives, the IV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate returned the complaint to the petitioner, citing a lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter.

This legal development occurred amidst the rejection of Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination. The Returning Officer rejected her nomination because she failed to mention the pending case in her election affidavit.

Following the court's decision to return the complaint, the Telangana BJP stated that the move does not amount to a dismissal of the case. State BJP Chief N Ramchander Rao, who is also an advocate, stated on X that the Congress party and its ecosystem have nothing to cheer about.

Ramchander Rao clarified that the court merely returned the complaint on the question of jurisdiction. He stressed that the court directed the petitioner to present the complaint before the appropriate court because the respondents are elected representatives.

According to the State BJP chief, the core issue remains unchanged. He stated that Natarajan failed to disclose the pending case in her affidavit while filing her nomination papers. Ramchander Rao added that a procedural return of the complaint is not a clean chit for the Congress leader.
