A domestic help who had been employed by a family for over a decade has been accused of stealing Rs 25 lakh from her employer’s residence in Jnanabharati Layout, Bengaluru. The Rajarajeshwarinagar police have launched an investigation into the matter and have already managed to recover a significant portion of the stolen funds.

The incident came to light when the employer, a local businessman named Bhadrirangan B, discovered that the large sum of cash he had stored inside a wardrobe was missing. According to Bhadrirangan’s statement to the police, the Rs 25 lakh was the proceeds from the sale of a land plot nearly two years ago. The family had been saving the cash specifically for the purchase of a new property.

The key to the wardrobe where the cash was kept was stored in a drawer near the household's television unit. When Bhadrirangan first noticed that the cash was gone, he questioned both his wife and his mother. However, after finding that neither of them had any knowledge of the missing money, he decided to review the security camera footage from the house.

Upon checking the CCTV footage, Bhadrirangan observed his domestic help, identified as Ratnamma, allegedly stealing the money on several different occasions. Ratnamma had been a trusted employee of the household, having worked for the family for more than ten years.

Following the discovery, Bhadrirangan reported the matter to the authorities. When officers from the Rajarajeshwarinagar police station visited Ratnamma’s residence to question her, they found that she was missing.

However, Ratnamma's daughter was present at the home and admitted to the police that her mother had played a role in the theft. Following this admission, the police conducted a search of the house and successfully recovered Rs 15 lakh of the stolen cash.
