Ram Charan Film Peddi Faces Massive Losses Outside Telugu States

The Ram Charan-starrer action film Peddi has faced severe financial losses in its overseas and non-Telugu domestic markets during its second weekend, despite maintaining a stable run across theaters in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. While the movie performed relatively better in the Telugu states, it has emerged as a major box office failure in other territories as of June 14, 2026.
According to trade reports, the film's massive pre-release business has resulted in significant deficits for distributors outside the Telugu states. In the overseas market, the buyer who acquired the distribution rights for approximately 43 Crore is facing heavy losses. In North America, where the film required a gross of 6.5 Million Dollars to break even, the theatrical run is projected to close at only 3.5 Million Dollars. Due to the scale of these overseas losses, the film's producer will have to compensate the buyer.
Domestic markets outside the Telugu states have mirrored this downward trend. In Karnataka, the local buyer is set to lose a substantial amount of money. The film also failed to generate traction in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, registering as a non-starter in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
Additionally, Jio Studios had reportedly advanced around 40 Crore for the Hindi version of the film. Following the movie's failure to click in the northern circuit, the producer has had to return a big amount of this advance back to the studio.
This stands in contrast to the film's theatrical run in Telangana, where the state government had previously approved special ticket price hikes up to Rs 100 for single screens and Rs 125 for multiplexes, alongside a premiere ticket price of Rs 600. While the film's performance remains a fair result in the Telugu states, the mixed word-of-mouth and high pre-release business of 165 Crore have made recovery impossible in other regions.
