Ram Charan Film Peddi Faces Massive Losses Overseas and in Hindi Markets

HYDERABAD -- The Ram Charan-starrer 'Peddi' has maintained a decent run in the Telugu states, including the Nizam region, during its second weekend, but is facing massive financial losses across overseas and other domestic markets as of June 14, 2026.
Despite a strong initial start, the film is experiencing a notable slowdown during working days. While the producer’s GST concessions may help some local areas in the Telugu states reach breakeven, the film has struggled to find an audience outside of its home territory. This comes after the movie generated massive expectations with a pre-release business of Rs 165 crore.
The film's performance in North India has resulted in significant liabilities for the producer. Jio Studios had reportedly sent an advance of approximately Rs 40 crore for the Hindi version of the movie. Since the film failed to click in the Hindi market, the producer is now required to refund a substantial portion of this advance.
Similarly, the overseas market has yielded severe losses. The overseas buyer, who purchased the rights for about Rs 43 crore, is facing massive deficits. In North America, where the breakeven mark was set at 6.5 million dollars, the film is projected to close its full run at only around 3.5 million dollars. Due to the scale of these losses, the producer will have to compensate the overseas distributor.
Other South Indian territories have also recorded poor results. The buyer in Karnataka is set to lose a large sum of money, and the movie has emerged as a non-starter in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. However, the advances from the Tamil and Malayalam markets were relatively small.
This downturn follows a high-profile launch where the Telangana government had approved special ticket price hikes in Nizam to boost initial collections, permitting single screens to hike prices by Rs 100 and multiplexes by Rs 125. While the film achieved a massive worldwide share of Rs 67.85 crore on its first day, the mixed word-of-mouth has impacted its long-term theatrical run.
