The Delhi government has approved the construction of a Rs 700-crore, four-kilometre-long signal-free flyover on SSN Marg stretching from the Anuvrat Marg intersection to DLF Farms in Chattarpur. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh announced the approval on Tuesday, aiming to drastically reduce travel times for commuters travelling between South Delhi and Gurgaon.

According to officials, the proposed corridor is expected to reduce travel times on the busy route from 35 minutes down to just five minutes. Currently, average operating speeds along the four-kilometre stretch frequently drop below 10 kmph during peak hours. The new flyover is expected to increase average speeds to 50 kmph.

Minister Singh explained that the stretch is one of South Delhi’s busiest urban corridors but is heavily constrained by a signalised bottleneck at Anuvrat Marg. "Due to this, vehicles get stuck at the red light, leading to heavy traffic jams," Singh said. He added that encroachments and wedding season traffic near the Chhattarpur farms often worsen the congestion.

The project, which is estimated to cost Rs 700 crore, aims to augment the capacity of the existing corridor and improve traffic circulation. A PWD official noted that the flyover will carry the majority of the traffic load, leaving the surface road for local traffic. This shift is expected to save commuters an average of 12.3 minutes per vehicle.

The PWD Minister confirmed that the project's feasibility study has been completed and the detailed project report is ready. Tenders for the project are expected to be floated within a month. Once the work is awarded, civil construction will begin on the ground and is projected to take approximately two years to complete.

The corridor is expected to benefit commuters in several surrounding areas, including Lado Sarai, Saket, Mehrauli, Chattarpur, Dhan Mill, Sainik Farms, Satbari, Jonapur, Dera Mandi, Asola, Vasant Kunj, the Indira Gandhi International Airport, MG Road, and Gurgaon.
