Seven passengers were injured, four of them critically, after a speeding private bus rammed into a railway bridge near Kotha Lankapally village in the Penuballi mandal of Khammam district in the early hours of Monday, June 8, 2026.

The private bus, owned by KVR Travels, was carrying nearly 35 passengers when the accident occurred. The vehicle was on its journey to Hyderabad, having departed from Chekkapally town in the Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to local authorities, the impact of the collision was severe enough to completely detach the front axle of the bus, causing the vehicle to turn sideways. Police officials who inspected the scene surmise that high speed was the primary cause of the accident.

Following the crash, the seven injured passengers were rescued from the vehicle and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The remaining passengers on board escaped without major injuries.
