Sunit Chowrasia Grabs Two Shot Lead at PGTI NexGen Golf Tournament in Lucknow

On June 10, 2026, Kolkata golfer Sunit Chowrasia fired a bogey-free eight-under 62 to secure a two-shot lead after the second round of the DP World PGTI NexGen Vijay Kumar Memorial at the Lucknow Golf Club in Lucknow.
The 31-year-old Chowrasia, who is the nephew of Indian golfing legend SSP Chawrasia, climbed from a tied 13th position to the top of the leaderboard. He carded an impressive total score of eight-under 132 after following his opening round of 70 with the lowest round of the tournament.
Currently ranked sixth on the DP World PGTI NexGen Order of Merit, Chowrasia registered eight birdies and no bogeys during his stellar Wednesday round. He started his round from the par-4 ninth hole in a shotgun format, picking up three birdies on his first nine holes before adding five more on the second nine, which included four consecutive birdies from the third to the sixth hole.
Overnight leader Abhishek Kumar of Panchkula slipped to second place with a total score of six-under 134. The 24-year-old carded a second consecutive bogey-free round, finishing with a one-under 69 on the day.
Pawan Kumar, a 41-year-old golfer from Delhi, secured sole third place at five-under 135 after shooting a two-under 68 to follow up his opening-round 67.
Three players shared the fourth spot at three-under 137: Noida’s Bipin Mukhiya (70-67), Lucknow’s Rajesh Kumar Gautam (68-69), and 15-year-old Arjunveer Shishir of Panchkula. Meanwhile, Lucknow local Rishi Kumar tied for seventh place at two-under 138.
A total of 39 players out of the 71-man field advanced to the final round, with the 36-hole cut falling at six-over 146. The winner of the 2026 DP World PGTI NexGen Order of Merit will receive an exemption on the main tour for the 2027 season.
