TCA Protests TG20 League at Indira Park Over Alleged Rules Violations

On Sunday, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) staged a dharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad to protest against what the association termed the illegal conduct of the TG20 League cricket championship. TCA officials gathered to voice their opposition, alleging that the tournament is being organized in direct violation of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) rules and completely lacks the required approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Ironically, the player auction of the TG20 League was held by the HCA in the city on the very same day that the protest was taking place.
TCA general secretary Guruva Reddy spoke at the protest, explaining that according to Rule 28 of the HCA, the responsibility of electing the Governing Council lies with the HCA General Body through an election. He alleged that a self-proclaimed Governing Council is currently deceiving the public by claiming they have BCCI permission when they do not.
Furthermore, Reddy pointed out that under Rule 30, the HCA Governing Council must obtain written permission from the BCCI. Because these rules were not followed, Reddy warned that the recognition of the HCA can be revoked under Rule 31. He added that participating players, officials, and organisations could also face bans under this rule.
According to Reddy, the consequences of Rule 31 would also apply to prominent national players, specifically naming Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj as players who could face potential bans.
Other prominent TCA figures also spoke at the demonstration, including former MLA and TCA co-chairperson Yendala Laxminarayana, TCA vice-president Dr. Vijay Chander Reddy, and former SATG chairman A. Venkateshwar Reddy.
The speakers collectively criticized the HCA for what they described as a gross neglect of genuine cricket talent across the state of Telangana. They alleged that the HCA has focused its efforts almost exclusively on the twin cities, ignoring potential cricket talent outside of Hyderabad.
