The Telangana pickleball team dominated the opening day of the second South Zone Pickleball Championship 2026 on Sunday, June 14, 2026, clinching 21 medals at The HUB Pickleball in Kompally, Hyderabad. Organised by the Amateur Telangana Pickleball Association (ATPA), the tournament saw the host state secure the top spot in the overall medal tally ahead of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Telangana finished the opening day's singles events with a haul of five gold, nine silver, and seven bronze medals. Andhra Pradesh followed in second place with nine medals, including four gold, two silver, and three bronze. Karnataka took third place with seven medals, consisting of two gold, one silver, and four bronze, while Kerala registered one gold medal.

In the junior categories, Telangana's Sega Dhanwanth won the gold medal in the Under-14 Boys division, with teammates Tribhuvan Arutla and Rishik Dundigalla securing silver and bronze respectively. Gia Gandhi claimed gold in the Under-16 Girls category, ahead of fellow Telangana player Nihal Kurapati who took silver. Gandhi also secured gold in the Under-19 Girls category, followed by Telangana's Malishka Kuramu with silver and S. Devika with bronze.

The Under-19 Boys category saw Safal Kochhar win gold for Telangana, while Nihal Kurapati and Charan Kumar secured silver and bronze respectively. In the Women's division, Malishka Kuramu won the gold medal, with Sanjana Sirimalla taking silver and Gia Gandhi winning bronze.

In the Under-12 categories, Rishik Dundigalla won bronze in the boys' event, while Mischitha Arutla won silver in the girls' event. Mischitha Arutla also won silver in the Under-14 Girls category. In the Under-16 Boys category, Tejas won silver and Sega Dhanwanth won bronze for Telangana.

In the senior divisions, Venkata Sai Kumar Reddy of Telangana claimed the gold medal in the 35 years and above category. In the 50 years and above category, Soni Bala Devi won gold, while Dipti Balan and G. Madhavi secured silver and bronze respectively for Telangana. Ram Reddy won a silver medal in the 60 years and above category, which was won by Nampoothiri of Kerala. In the Men's category, Saran Kavali of Telangana won the silver medal behind gold medalist Ananth Mani of Andhra Pradesh.
