TGSPDCL Urges Public to Report Snapped Wires to 1912 After Lal Bazar Deaths

Following the tragic electrocution of a man and his daughter in the Lal Bazar area of Hyderabad, the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has issued a safety advisory urging residents to report snapped electric lines immediately.
On June 13, 2026, officials requested the public to call the dedicated helpline number 1912 if they encounter any fallen poles, snapped wires, or hazardous electrical situations during severe storms and heavy rains.
The safety warning was prompted by recent electrocution deaths in the city, including a fatal accident that occurred in Telecom Colony under the Lal Bazar Section limits.
According to TGSPDCL officials, a severe storm with strong winds at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Friday uprooted several trees across Greater Hyderabad. Near Road No. 7 in Telecom Colony, a large tree fell onto a parked car. The impact caused a streetlight power cable to snap and fall onto the vehicle along with the tree branches.
Three family members subsequently attempted to move the car to a safer location. The car owner’s wife, Mrs. Sandeep, tried to move the live wire aside and suffered an electric shock. Her husband, Sandeep, and their daughter, Ritika, attempted to rescue her but both received fatal shocks. Mrs. Sandeep survived the incident and is reported to be out of danger.
TGSPDCL stated that power supply officials disconnected the electricity to the affected transformer immediately after receiving information about the accident. At the time, utility teams were actively engaged in emergency power restoration and repair works across the area due to the storm damage.
In their advisory, authorities strongly appealed to the public not to attempt to touch, remove, or repair electrical wires or equipment on their own, warning that such actions can lead to fatal accidents.
