The Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association (THCAA) has officially urged constitutional authorities and the Supreme Court Collegium to reserve future judicial appointments at the state's highest court for local candidates. On Monday, June 15, 2026, the association resolved that only advocates of Telangana origin should be considered for elevation as judges of the Telangana High Court.

The decision was reached during an Extraordinary General Body Meeting held at the Advocates’ Association Hall, located within the High Court premises in Hyderabad. The resolution was passed unanimously by the attending members of the association.

According to the THCAA, the demand for appointing advocates of Telangana origin is rooted in the need for social justice. The association emphasized that such a measure is necessary to ensure adequate representation for all sections of society across the state of Telangana.

To push the initiative forward, the General Body resolved to submit comprehensive representations to several top judicial and political figures in the country. The association will send these appeals to the Chief Justice of India, the members of the Supreme Court Collegium, and the Union Minister for Law and Justice.

At the state level, the THCAA will submit representations to the Governor of Telangana and the Chief Minister of Telangana. The group also plans to engage political leaders by sending the resolution to the presidents of various political parties, seeking their backing for local representation in future appointments to the High Court Bench.

Furthermore, the association decided to submit a separate representation directly to the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court and the local Collegium to address the issue.

To demonstrate their commitment to the cause, the association has planned a public protest. The General Body resolved to organize a demonstration on the High Court premises on June 17, 2026, at 1:45 p.m. to press for their demands.
