Construction is actively progressing on a new 3.85-acre integrated transit-oriented development at the upcoming Phase-2 Thirumangalam Metro station near Anna Nagar. The project is designed to transform the daily commute for local residents by allowing passengers to productively utilize their time to work, shop, and dine in one place before boarding their trains.

The ambitious project will feature four interconnected towers integrated directly with the metro station. These buildings are being constructed to accommodate offices, commercial establishments, and retail spaces across multiple floors. Once the development is completed, commuters will be able to access the metro platforms and trains directly from within the commercial complex itself.

Unlike conventional transit stations, the Phase-2 Thirumangalam Metro station is being designed as an integral part of a larger commercial development. The station's concourse and platforms will be completely surrounded by retail outlets and office spaces, creating a seamless experience for daily commuters and visitors.

A key highlight of the development is that driverless metro trains are set to pass directly through the commercial building complex. This unique design has drawn comparisons to similar transit-oriented projects in Japan and China, making it the first development of its kind in Chennai.

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) project represents one of the largest transit-oriented developments planned along the city's metro corridor. Officials believe that bringing work, travel, dining, and shopping together under one roof will significantly enhance passenger convenience while boosting overall footfall around the station area.
