The Banjara Hills police have registered a case against Tollywood casting coordinator Prasad for allegedly physically harassing an upcoming actress and withholding her pending payments. The complaint, which was filed in Hyderabad, highlights ongoing concerns regarding safety, labor, and financial exploitation within the Telugu film industry.

According to the official complaint, the upcoming actress had secured a role in the film "Aakasamlo Oka Tara" with the assistance of Prasad. In the film, she played a character close to the lead heroine. Although the shooting for her role in the project was completed several months ago, she alleged that her agreed-upon dues remained unpaid.

The victim stated that a total of Rs 90,000 towards her acting remuneration and Rs 38,000 towards her travel expenses were still pending from the coordinator. Despite sending several reminders to the casting coordinator over the course of several months, Prasad allegedly continued to postpone the payments without offering any clear explanation.

The situation escalated when Prasad allegedly contacted the actress and requested a meeting under the pretext of clearing her outstanding dues. However, during the meeting, the accused allegedly physically harassed her. The actress stated that Prasad made these physical advances while promising her bigger roles and future career opportunities in Tollywood.

Following the incident, the actress discussed the matter with her family members before deciding to seek legal action. She subsequently approached the local authorities to seek protection and demand action against the casting coordinator.

The Banjara Hills police registered the case against Prasad on June 15, 2026, and have launched an investigation into the allegations of physical harassment and financial exploitation. The incident has once again highlighted the systemic problems and safety issues faced by many upcoming artists navigating the Telugu film industry.
