The official plot and casting details for the upcoming Bollywood feature film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' have been revealed ahead of its scheduled release in 2026. Directed by David Dhawan, the romantic comedy features a leading cast of Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, alongside supporting actor Ali Asgar.
The storyline follows the life of Jaswinder, also known as Jass, played by Varun Dhawan. Jass works as a professional wedding photographer. His life changes when he is hired to work at a wedding for the sister of a woman named Bani, played by Mrunal Thakur. Jass falls in love with Bani during the event, and after she is charmed by him, the two decide to get married.
The couple's marriage runs into significant trouble five years later. Bani requests a divorce because of a fundamental disagreement regarding their future: Jass strongly desires to have a child, whereas Bani is completely against the idea.
The legal proceedings bring them before a judge, played by Ali Asgar. The judge decides to annul the marriage after a period of six months, expressing hope that the couple will find a way to reconcile during this time. Despite this judicial intervention, Bani remains clear and resolute in her decision to separate from Jass permanently.
Following the heartbreak of the separation, Jass decides to leave and shifts his life to London. In London, he meets Preet, played by Pooja Hegde. Jass and Preet begin dating, and their new relationship progresses smoothly.
However, the situation takes a dramatic turn when Bani unexpectedly arrives at Jass's residence in London. She announces to him that she is pregnant with his child. In a compounding twist, Preet also informs Jass on that exact same day that she is expecting a child as well.
The film's promotional rollout features various media assets, including a total of 63 photos and eight videos. Among the promotional tracks associated with the movie is a song titled 'Chunnari Chunnari – Let’s Go'. The comedy film is currently slated for a theatrical release sometime in 2026.
