On the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2026, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar placed the city police force on high alert and personally inspected several waterlogging-prone areas across Hyderabad. The precautionary measures were taken in response to a heavy rain forecast for the city, with the primary goals of handling rain-related emergencies, ensuring public safety, and preventing water stagnation on key roads.

During the field inspection, Commissioner Sajjanar was accompanied by other senior officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis. Together, they visited multiple locations across the city that are vulnerable to waterlogging during heavy downpours to assess ground-level preparedness.

Sajjanar directed field-level police officers to take immediate steps to facilitate the smooth drainage of rainwater. He emphasized that officers must ensure water does not remain stagnant on the streets, which can lead to severe traffic jams and safety hazards. The Commissioner stressed that having swift response mechanisms in place is absolutely vital to preventing traffic congestion and minimizing inconvenience to daily commuters when the heavy rains hit the city.

To ensure a comprehensive response to any civic challenges, the Commissioner stated that the Hyderabad Police will maintain continuous, close coordination with various civic and utility departments. This collaborative effort will involve key government agencies, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), HYDRAA, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), and the Electricity Department, along with other concerned authorities.

In addition to departmental preparations, Sajjanar issued an advisory to the general public. He advised residents of Hyderabad to remain indoors as much as possible during periods of heavy rainfall and urged them to venture out onto the streets only when it is absolutely necessary.
